ETERNITY IS 14 DAYS COUNTED IN MINUTES

For those who suffer, time stands still.
For those in pain,
An hour measures the length of a century.
    Mischievous time;
skips and runs in the days of fun
gallops in the time of funfare.
But time stands still in the day when youre afraid and scared.

A day is never long enough when all eyes celebrate you
But when you wait to see plus or minus, negative or positive,
Two days of waiting is a millenium that does things to you.
Sets your heart back in years of childhood
And you age forward in decades to come.

Different cast, same stories.
Those caught within the bracket of self-isolation,
Returnees from covid-ravaged lands,
Those who had contact,
With those who had contact
With those suspected of being in contact
With those presumed to be infected....
Time, to all,
Is the unforgiving tide,
The corrosive wave that eats at the heart of flesh,
That chip layers and blocks off the anchor of the soul.

For those under the burden of moral compliance
And the weight of legal obedience,
To be put, or to put yourself in the prison of quarantine
To isolate and test and wait.
Time cease to exist,
As you count down 14 days in seconds and minutes.
You realise two weeks,
Can do a lot to the humanity of created beings.
You only begin to breathe, to live when its over.

At the mercy of this troubling plague
We have learnt to count backward,
The earth under siege
The rain is still falling.
They tell me to play safe atop the slippery earth
No firm grip yet, it is a balancing act,
Anyone can tip over, anyone can go under.

If you go into isolation
It dawns on you eternity is 14 days counted in minutes.
Days of torture when every of your move is watched,
Every blink is suspect, all eyes follow you about,
You only begin to breathe, to live when its over.

When will the earth be rid of this pandemic,
When will this be over?
